Calm Christmas Prep in November: One List, Not a Haul
Gift-season noise wants you in a cart. November wants a list. Do the list first.
The one-page list
Write four columns on paper or in a note you already use:
- People (household + must-buy names only).
- Budget ceiling per person or for the whole list — a number, not a vibe.
- Experiences / homemade / already-owned options (movie night, baked cookies, a book from your shelf).
- Hard dates — school parties, travel days, when relatives arrive.
If a name has no idea yet, leave a blank. Blank is honest. Panic shopping is not a plan.
What you already own counts
Ornaments, lights that still work, the tree stand in the basement — inventory before you buy replacements. Fix one string of lights on a Saturday. Do not replace the whole bin "just in case."
Working-mom timing
Block two short sessions on the calendar: one for the list (30 minutes), one for orders or handmade only after the list exists. Protect a no-errand Sunday in early December.
What this is not
Not a 40-item gift guide. Not permission to open twelve store apps tonight. Christmas gets calmer when November does the boring paperwork.
