Steps
- Label a freezer bag with the meal name, cook time, and date. Add protein, chopped sturdy veggies if using, sauce ingredients, and spices. Squeeze out air and freeze flat.
- The morning you need dinner, run the bag under warm water just until you can empty it into the slow cooker. Add a splash of broth if the mix looks dry.
- Cook on low 6 to 8 hours or high 3 to 4 hours, until the protein is cooked through and tender. Shred if needed and stir.
- Serve over rice, potatoes, or tortillas depending on the sauce style you bagged.
Use-what-you-have swaps

Frozen bags keep 3 months. Cooked leftovers keep 3 to 4 days refrigerated.
Write 'no more than 3 months' on the bag even when you are optimistic. Frozen mystery meat helps no one.
