Fall hosting doesn't need a roast. It needs a pot.

The pot

Chili, potato soup, or a simple tomato soup. Make it the day before; it's better.

Toppings board

Shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, crackers, croutons, bacon bits, hot sauce. Little bowls, no pressure.

Sides

One loaf of bread, a bagged salad dumped into a nice bowl.

Hosting tips

  • Mugs work as bowls, fewer dishes.
  • Ask guests to bring dessert.
  • Set the table before you shower, not after.

Soup night scales from four people to fourteen with one more can of beans.
