Trunk-or-Treat Decorations From What's in the Garage

Trunk-or-treat decorations from garage and house supplies, layout plan plus a few Amazon/Target buys if you need volume. Start with what is already in the closet or recycling bin, then fill gaps with a short store list so you are not hunting at 4 p.m. on Halloween.

Trunk-or-treat decorations from garage and house supplies, layout plan plus a few Amazon/Target buys if you need volume. Start with what is already in the closet or recycling bin, then fill gaps with a short store list so you are not hunting at 4 p.m. on Halloween.

Time: 60-90 minutes

What you need (closet / house first)

  • Car with open trunk/hatch
  • Old sheets/blankets
  • Tape, scissors, cardboard
  • String lights you own
  • Candy bowl

Grab these if you are missing pieces

Steps

  1. Theme in one word (cave, candy shop, graveyard). Drape trunk interior with dark sheets.
  2. Hang lights high so kids do not grab bulbs. Tape cardboard signs.
  3. Candy bowl at adult elbow height. Keep walk path clear of cords.
  4. Photo test at dusk, add one more light if faces disappear.

Variations

  • Sports tailgate trunk: jersey + pennants you already own

Backdrop + light + candy height. Done is better than Pinterest.
