Kids outgrow clothes midweek, mid-laundry, mid-morning while you are finding shoes. Beautifully Chaotic Life parks a single bin in each closet so outgrown pieces leave the rotation immediately instead of forming a mountain in April.

## The system in one sentence

When something is too small, it goes in the outgrown bin the same day, not back in the drawer.

## Setup (fifteen minutes once)

1. One open bin or laundry basket per kid, bottom of closet or shelf they cannot climb dangerously.
2. Label it "Too small" with the kid's name.
3. Keep a marker nearby to write size on the bin lid when a batch is mostly one size.
4. Tell anyone who folds laundry about the rule in one sentence.

## Daily habit

Folding laundry: try the waistband or sleeves once. If it is small, bin it. Do not negotiate with nostalgia while matching socks. Nostalgia lives in a photo, not in a drawer of tight pajamas.

## Monthly or end-of-season empty

When the bin is full or seasons change:

1. Dump on a sheet.
2. Sort Keep for younger sibling / Sell lot / Donate / Trash.
3. Wash anything going to the next kid.
4. Photograph sell lots by size and season, then list or stage for Sunday listing hour.
5. Donate bag goes to the car immediately.

## Hand-me-down rules that prevent clutter

- Only keep what the next child will wear within one size up and one season.
- Special outfits: photograph, keep one box household-wide for keepsakes, not twelve.
- Stains that never came out do not become someone else's problem. Trash them.

## Selling kids' lots

Bundle same size and season. Poshmark and eBay both work. Price for speed. If the lot sits thirty days, donate. Space matters more than seven dollars.

## What this replaces

The semi-annual clothes explosion across the couch. You will still do occasional drawer edits. You will not face a trash bag avalanche that takes a holiday weekend hostage.

## Helpful pieces

- Open bins you already own beat fancy cube systems
- Size labels on drawers help folding go faster
- A single keepsake box for the whole family

## Done looks like

Drawers that mostly fit the child who uses them. A bin that catches the rest. A car trunk that sometimes holds a donate bag. That is a clothes system for a house in motion.

## Growth spurts

During a growth spurt week, check fit every laundry cycle. Bin aggressively. Buying two sizes ahead for basics (pajamas, socks) reduces emergency store runs. Fashion tops can wait.

## Field notes for real houses

This guide assumes interruptions. Someone will ask for a snack mid-step. Pause, handle the snack, return to the next numbered action. The order matters more than the mood. If you only finish half, park a sticky note on the fridge with the next step for tonight. Momentum likes breadcrumbs.

If money is tight this month, skip every optional purchase link. Use jars, cereal boxes, grocery totes, and clothes you already own. Links are for gaps, not for status. Beautifully Chaotic Life would rather you finish the project with tape than delay joy for a package.

## Shoes and coats

Shoes that pinch go in a separate shoe bag by the door for donate, because shoes in the clothes bin get weird. Coats: check fit on the first cold morning, not during a panic freeze. Bin the too-small coat the same day you notice.
