Friendsgiving should feel like a party, not a project plan that ate your week. The easiest version has one host on the main dish, a shared list everyone can see, and guests who arrive with food ready to serve.

## Host owns three things

You make the main: a turkey breast, a ham, a big lasagna, or a vegetarian centerpiece that actually feeds the room. You handle plates, napkins, and drinks or ice. You clear one counter as the drop-off zone so casserole dishes are not floating through the living room.

Everything else is assigned.

## One group text, clear slots

Send a single message with open slots: two sides, one salad, one bread, two desserts, drinks or ice. People reply with what they are bringing. No private side threads. No "I was going to make pie too." When a slot fills, edit the list so the next person sees it.

If someone asks what you need, point them back to the open slots. Decision fatigue is what turns potlucks into five mac-and-cheeses.

## Ready-to-serve is the house rule

Ask guests to bring dishes hot or fully assembled, with their own serving utensil if they can. Label a few spoons with sticky notes for the ones who forget. You are hosting, not running a finishing kitchen for eight separate recipes.

Park store-bought rolls and a good olive oil next to the homemade sides. Nobody is scoring authenticity at the door.

## Leftovers that leave with people

Stack clean deli containers by the door before anyone sits down. At the end of the night, invite people to pack a plate. Your fridge stays manageable, and tomorrow's lunch is handled for half the guest list.

Friendsgiving works when the host protects their own energy. A clear list and a defined main dish do more than any Pinterest tablescape.
